"Dark Web," original painting, 20" x 20"
A moody charcoal gray painting with burgundy and oranges peeking through, looking like a web of entanglement.
The "Minimalist" paintings are works of art created to provide a soothing and comforting presence during tumultuous times.
The texture and depth of these paintings is created by first layering marks using many different colors. I sand though the layers and harmonize the piece using several layers of glaze. Then I add surface detail to complete the painting.
When you see these paintings in person, they have a rich patina and intensity, but they're also quiet. They're subtle yet provocative.
Sustainability is an important part of my artistic practice, and this painting was created using repurposed leftover house paint that would otherwise go to waste.
