Handwoven Rag Scarf, "Apricot and Greens," 6.5" x 75"

Inspired by Japanese Sakiori textiles, this scarf is made from upcycled worn flannel shirts. Sakiori is a tradition of creating new handwoven clothes from worn out clothes by tearing them into strips.

These are thick and sturdy scarves. The tightly beaten flannel alternates with rows of a variegated yarn and the same variegated warp, giving it a marbled look.

Each scarf is a unique exploration of color, texture and pattern.
