Sakiori Wall Hanging, "Earth," 20.5" x 32.5"
Inspired by Japanese Sakiori textiles, this wall hanging is made from upcycled worn flannel shirts. Sakiori is a tradition of creating new handwoven fabric from worn out clothes by tearing them into strips.
The tightly beaten flannel alternates with rows of charcoal gray cotton yarn, and the charcoal gray cotton warp gives it a stained glass window effect.
Each piece is a unique exploration of color, texture and pattern. This wall hanging incorporates earthy grays, browns, red, gold and blue.
