About the Art
My art is an expression of spontaneity and joy -- a reflection of my interest in nature and ecology -- drawing on patterns and motifs found in plants, flowers, rocks and gems. I rarely pick up a brush, and prefer to pour, splatter, press and drip paint onto the canvas.
Because of concerns about the environment, I use sustainable materials for my art. My paintings are created using repurposed leftover house paint that would otherwise go to waste, and my leaf prints are made using fallen leaves collected on neighborhood walks.
I'm attracted to leftover house paint because I like the idea of using materials that have been discarded, and I also love the way that it flows. I like that it's not precious and I can use a lot of paint without feeling like I'm wasting expensive materials.
My paintings are more magnificent when seen in person -- photographs don’t convey the texture and depth of the work. Those who experience my art can feel the love and joy that went into the making of it.
