Handwoven Rag Scarf, "Navy Blue," 6.5" x 74"

Inspired by Japanese Sakiori textiles, this scarf is made from upcycled worn flannel shirts. Sakiori is a tradition of creating new handwoven clothes from worn out clothes by tearing them into strips.

These are thick and sturdy scarves. The tightly beaten flannel alternates with rows of navy blue cotton yarn and a navy blue cotton warp, giving it a stained glass window effect.

Each scarf is a unique exploration of color, texture and pattern.
